My Craven aunts are very crafty. We had a girls' day and they taught me how to
do this particular type of folk art on anything made of wood.
You start out painting the whole thing black,
then draw your picture on with pencil.
Wherever the pencil is, that is where you DON'T paint with color.
Behold our projects:

This is a chest my aunt Liz made.

My mom painted this lil' box.

Aunt Steph's creation

My chest: halfway finished. (Sorry for the sideways pictures.)
I had so much fun that I had to pass on my new craftiness to Cassie.
So we had a craft day in Midway.

The top of the stool I painted. (Sorry, sideways again.)
Cassie was professional right from the beginning.
She painted this darling little chair for midgets.
