in a few days, it will be the 10 year anniversary of our first date.
i remember . . .
jesse calling me on the phone to ask me to the prom. i rolled around on the floor screaming after i hung up. i rememember getting my make-up done at the mall with my best friends. my mom bought me some lipstick. my sisters peaking out the window as the limo pulled up, squealing. my dad pinned jesse's boutonniere on. the limo had neon lights on the ceiling. we drank out of champagne glasses and toasted to our senior year. we ate at the aerie at snowbird. i had blackened salmon. jesse just sort of picked at his food. i guess he was nervous. prom was at the capital building. we danced by a picture of brigham young. jesse did not follow the book of mormon rule while slow dancing and i loved it. every minute. i remember the feeling of jesse's hands on my waist while we took pictures. dancing to "with or without you." jesse was named prom king. i felt so proud to be there with him. we left the dance in pouring rain. watched a scary movie in the jenson's basement, but i didn't pay attention to one second of it because the whole time i was freaking out that jesse was actually holding my hand. and tickling my back. and my head was on his shoulder. freak. out. i got home at 4 in the morning. it was the best date of my life.
if you'd've told me i'd end up marrying that boy and making babies, my head would have exploded.

I LOVE your first date story! I remember Spencer came up to me at school and told me that you had said that you were going to prom with the cutest boy in school! Then I told Jesse you said that and he grinned from ear to ear. Love you two!
It's always warmed my heart to see you two end up together. Maybe at ten years the memories are all just blending together, but I feel like there were a handful of just really nice people that I admired at Olympus and to see how things are turning out years later makes me happy.
Good luck in these next few weeks!
This is the cutest blog entry I have EVER read. Ever.
I have warm fuzzies inside right now. Seriously.
I remember when he asked you to the prom! I can't believe it was 10 years ago! I hope you are doing well.
Best,
Sarah Crookston Henriod
